(아주 쉬운 성경영작) 창세기 제2장

1. 그리하여 하늘과 땅(Thus the heavens and the earth)과 그 안의 모든 것이 완성됐습니다(were completed).

2. 하나님께서는 그 하시던 일(the work)을 일곱째 날에 다 마치셨습니다(finished). 그리고 그 하시던 모든 일(all his work)을 마치고 일곱째 날에 쉬셨습니다(rested).

3. 하나님께서 일곱째 날을 복 주시고(blessed) 거룩하게 하셨습니다(made it holy). 하나님께서 창조하시고 만드시던 모든 일(all the work)을 마치시고 이날에(on it) 쉬셨기(rested) 때문입니다(because).

4. 하늘과 땅이 창조됐을(were created) 때(when) 여호와 하나님께서 땅과 하늘을 만드시던 날의 기록(account)이 이렇습니다.

5. 여호와 하나님(LORD God)께서 아직 땅에(on the earth) 비(rain)를 내리지 않으셨고(had not sent) 땅을 일굴 사람(man to work the ground)도 없었으므로 들에는 온갖 풀(shrub)이 아직 없었고 땅에는 풀(plant)조차 나지 않았습니다(had not sprouted).

6. 대신 안개(a mist)가 땅에서 솟아나와(came up from the earth) 온 땅을 적셨습니다(watered the whole surface of the ground).

7. 여호와 하나님께서 땅에서 취하신 흙으로(from the dust of the ground) 사람(man)을 빚으시고(formed) 그 코(his nostrils)에 생기(the breath of life)를 불어넣으시자(breathed into) 사람이 생명체(a living being)가 됐습니다(became).

8. 여호와 하나님께서 동쪽의(in the east) 에덴에 동산(a garden)을 만드시고(planted) 손수 빚으신(formed) 그 사람(the man)을 거기에(there) 두셨습니다(put/placed).

9. 그리고 여호와 하나님께서는 보기에도 아름답고(pleasing to the eye) 먹기에도 좋은(good for food) 온갖 나무가(all kinds of trees) 땅에서(out of ground) 자라게(grow) 하셨습니다. 동산 한가운데는(in the middle of the garden) 생명나무(the tree of life)가 있었고 선악을 알게 하는 나무(the tree of the knowledge of good and evil)도 있었습니다(were).

10. 강 하나(a rive)가 에덴으로부터 나와서(flowed from Eden) 동산을 적시고(watering) 거기로부터(from there) 갈라져(was separated) 네 줄기 강의 원류가 됐습니다(became four rivers).

11. 첫째 강의 이름(the name of the first)은 비손인데 이 강은 금이 있는(where there is gold) 하윌라 온 땅(the entire land of Havilah)을 굽이쳐 흘렀습니다(winds through).

12. 이 땅의 금(the gold of that land)은 질이 좋고(good) 베델리엄과 호마노(onyx)도 거기 있었습니다(are there).

13. 두 번째 강의 이름은 기혼인데 에티오피아 온 땅을 굽이쳐 흘렀습니다(it winds through the entire land of Cush).

14. 세 번째 강의 이름은 티그리스(the Tigris)인데 앗시리아(Asshur) 동쪽을 끼고(along the east side) 흐르고(runs) 넷째 강은 유프라테스(the Euphrates)입니다.

15. 여호와 하나님(The LORD God)께서 그 사람(the man)을 데려다가(took) 에덴 동산에(in the Garden of Eden) 두셔서(put) 동산을 일구고(cultivate) 지키게(keep) 하셨습니다.

16. 여호와 하나님께서 아담에게 명령해 말씀하셨습니다(commanded the man). “너는 이 동산의 각종 나무의 열매를 마음대로 먹을 수 있다(you are free to eat from any tree in the garden).

17. 그러나 선과 악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 마라(but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil). 그것을 먹는 날에는(when you eat from it) 네가 반드시 죽을 것이다(you will surely die).”

18. 여호와 하나님께서 말씀하셨습니다(said). “사람이(the man) 혼자 있는 것(to be alone)이 좋지 않으니(not good) 내가 그에게 알맞은(suitable for him) 돕는 사람(helper)을 만들어 주겠다(will make).”

19. 그래서 여호와 하나님께서 흙으로(out of the ground) 온갖 들짐승들(all the beasts of teh field)과 공중의 온갖 새들(all the birds of the sky)을 다 빚으시고(formed) 그것들을 아담에게로 데려오셔서(brought them to the man) 그가 어떻게 이름을 짓는지(name them) 보셨습니다. 아담이 각 생물을 무엇이라 부르든지(whatever the man called each living creature) 그것이 그의 이름이 됐습니다(that was its name).

20. 아담이(the man) 모든 가축(cattle)과 공중의 새(the birds of the sky)와 모든 들짐승(every beast of the field)에게 이름을 지어 주었습니다(gave names). 그러나 아담은 자기에게 알맞은 돕는 사람(suitable helper)을 찾을 수 없었습니다.

21. 여호와 하나님께서 아담을 깊은 잠에 빠지게 하시니(caused the man to fall into a deep sleep) 그가 잠들었습니다(he slept). 하나님께서 그의 갈비뼈 하나를 취하시고(took one of the man's ribs) 살로 대신 채우셨습니다(closed up the place with flesh).

22. 여호와 하나님께서 아담에게서 취하신 갈비뼈(the rib)로 여자를 지으시고(made a woman) 그녀를 아담에게 데려오셨습니다(brought her to the man).

23. 아담이 말했습니다(said). “드디어 내 뼈 가운데 뼈(bone of my bones)요 내 살 가운데 살(flesh of my flesh)이 나타났구나. 이가 남자에게서 취해졌으니(because she was taken out of man) 여자라고 불릴 것이다(she shall be called woman).”

24. 그러므로(for this reason/for this cause) 남자가 자기 아버지와 어머니를 떠나(leave) 그 아내와 결합해(be united to his wife) 한 몸을 이루게 되는 것입니다(they will become one flesh).

25. 아담과 그의 아내(wife)가 둘 다 벌거벗었지만(were both naked) 서로 부끄러워하지 않았습니다(they felt no shame).
